Biography

Hi, my name is Christina Joannou, and I am very excited to be joining the faculty here at The Catholic Academy of Stamford as a fifth-grade teacher! I feel very blessed to share my passion for teaching with my new class. I was born and raised right here in Stamford, CT. From the 3rd Grade I knew I wanted to become a teacher and be able to give back to the students what was given to me from my teachers. I have been working with children since I was 16 years old. I started as a Camp Counselor during the summers which then led to babysitting and tutoring throughout the school year. After graduating from Stamford high school, I went off and attended the University of Connecticut where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development & Family Studies. After graduating, I continued my degree at the University of Bridgeport where I received my Masters in Elementary Education, Grades 1-6.

I come from a large Greek Family so taking care of my cousins was always a job that I looked forward to having. For 10 years I attended Greek School & Sunday School. Greek School was taught after American school at the church for two days a week. During those days I learned the language, the culture and the history of Greece. Sunday School was taught during church where we learned about our faith and our religion. I am grateful and blessed to have been given such an amazing opportunity to work at The Catholic Academy of Stamford as a 5th Grade Teacher.
